10 couple costume ideas you should consider this Halloween
Having a cool Halloween costume is all well and good but if you can drag your significant other along with you, that’s even better. Here are 10 couples costumes we just love.
Jon and Daenerys - Game of Thrones
Possibly the It-couple of pop culture in 2017, Jon and Daenerys are an easy enough Halloween costume to pull off. For Dany, you will need a long blonde wig, a talent for braids, and a regal bearing; for Jon, fluffy hair and a mournful expression. Direwolves are optional but strongly encouraged.
Wonder Woman and Steve - Wonder Woman
Wonder Woman broke box office records this summer and the movie’s gorgeous leads provide amazing couple costume inspiration. For Wonder Woman, you’ll need that unmistakeable tiara, your sexiest and most warrior-like outfit, and some knee-high kickass boots. For Steve, just pile on layers and layers of clothes, including an attractive oatmeal-coloured turtleneck, topped off with a stylish shearling-trim coat.
Vince Vega and Mia Wallace - Pulp Fiction
For Vince, greasy black hair in a ponytail and a cheap suit with a bolo tie. For Mia, a black bobbed wig, a long white shirt and cropped trousers. Feel free to learn how to burst out into dance as soon as Chuck Berry starts playing.
Jack and Sally - The Nightmare Before Christmas
Tim Burton’s undead couple require quite a bit of make-up skill to pull off but if you’re really dedicated to Halloween, it’s a challenge worthy of your time. For Jack, you’ll need a pinstriped suit with additional spooky trimmings, white face paint and lots of eyeliner. For Sally, you need blue body paint, a patchwork dress and a long red wig.
Mary Poppins and Bert - Mary Poppins
This couples costume is as sweet as a spoonful of sugar. To look just like Mary, wear a black strawboater hat with flowers, a white shirt, a red bowtie and sash, a black pleated skirt and the iconic umbrella. For Bert, just dress up like a member of Mumford and Sons.
Danny and Sandy - Grease
Tell me about it, stud! The two leads in Grease are always a good choice. Danny is easy enough to pull off – just think 50s greaser style. With Sandy, you have more options – you can opt for Innocent Sandy with pearls, a cardigan and a big poodle skirt, or Makeover Sandy, with teased hair, black leather trousers and a skin-tight Bardot top.
Baby and Johnny - Dirty Dancing
Dirty Dancing just turned 30 years old this year, and nobody will be able to put this couples costume in a corner. For Baby, all you need is curly hair, a pink tutu and a coy expression; for Johnny, an all-black outfit, rippling muscles and a very 1987 mullet. If you’re going to do The Lift, make sure you get lots of practice!
Morticia and Gomez Addams - The Addams Family
The original spooky power couple are a perfect choice for a Halloween costume. For Morticia, you’ll need a long, tight black dress, long red nails and black hair parted down the middle. For Gomez, you’ll need a deluxe, pin-striped suit with a bowtie, a toothbrush moustache, slicked-back hair and an unquenchable thirst for Morticia.
Princess Leia and Han Solo - Star Wars
The newest Star Wars film is right around the corner, and the original power couple are never a bad idea. For Princess Leia, you’ll need a long white dress and that iconic cinnamon-roll hairstyle. For Han Solo, you’ll need a black waistcoat, a loosely-buttoned khaki shirt and a good bit of chest hair. Hey, it was the 70s.
Mike and Eleven - Stranger Things
The second season of Stranger Things is finally on Netflix and what better way to celebrate than to go as Mike and Eleven? For Mike, all you need are a denim jacket, a funky 80s jumper and a bike to wheel along with you; for Eleven, a blonde wig (or a shaved head), a pink dress and a box of Eggos (we’re not sure if these are available in Malta, so any old box of waffles will have to do.)
