10 Relationship Lessons We Learned From Netflix’s The Crown
The Crown, Netflix’s gorgeous series focusing on the early years of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign has us all agog. We’re so used to seeing Her Majesty as a sweet old lady in pastels that it’s hard to remember that she was a 25-year-old (!!) newlywed when she took the throne. Here are some relationship lessons we can all learn from Liz and Phil, and the rest of the Royals.
1. When your husband or wife is going through a tough time, do your best to be their rock
2. Although you may disagree with your spouse at times, try to keep an open mind. You may be surprised
3. Compromises will always have to be made
4. Someday you may have to give up a lot of things for love, including, possibly, a kingdom
5. Don’t be gross when your wife isn’t around
6. You only have to smile when you feel like it. It’s not Resting Bitch Face, it’s Resting Queen Face
7. However tempting it may be, don’t hang on to old flames
8. Airing your dirty laundry in public is generally a bad idea
9. Love isn’t always picture-perfect – sometimes it’s ugly and messy. But it’s worth fighting for if you really want it
10. Sometimes it’s okay to blow off important meetings for some quality time with your husband
BONUS: Malta is a great place for a newlywed couple…even if they are royals
