It had to be a cake fit for real-life royalty, and it didn't disappoint. This confectionery masterpiece featuring multiple fruit cakes by cake maker Fiona Cairns and her team, was covered in cream and white icing and decorated with up to 900 delicate sugar-paste flowers. The Duchess reportedly didn’t want a towering cake, but something grand nonetheless, with intricate piping to make three dimensional scroll work, leaves, flowers and other adornments. It is believed there are 17 different types of flowers and foliage adorning the cake.

Kim Kardashian & Kris Humphries

While the marriage may only have a lasted a few weeks, no expense was spared at Kim Kardashian’s wedding to NBA star Kris Humphries. Their eight foot tall chocolate-chip marble cake, created by cake designer Patrick Hansen, was decorated with black and white butter cream frosting, giving it a simple and modern look. Oh ant the price? A cool $20,000 – that’s €18,773 to you and me!)

One of Hollywood’s sexiest couples tied the knot last November, and they weren’t the only fabulous looking thing in the room! Their towering, nine-tiered wedding cake, created by Sylvia Weinstock is a true stunner, and features quilted details, fuchsia and white orchids as well as several realistic sugar flowers on alternating tiers.

When these two tied the knot in 2005 – back when no one ever imagined he's one day run the White House - there was no doubt it would be an extravagant affair. The seven-tier chef-d'oeuvre measured 70 inches in diameter and weighed more than 200 pounds. The gold-and-white, classic yellow sponge cake with orange zest flavour was filled with butter­cream and soaked in Grand Marnier. It featured 2,000 individually constructed flowers spun from sugar.
