7 Adorable Ways to Propose to Your Bridesmaids

7 Adorable Ways to Propose to Your Bridesmaids

Why ask your best friends to be your bridesmaids over the phone when you can surprise them with a token they can keep forever? Here are some lovely ways to pop the question.

Something sparkly

No matter how big or small, women love receiving jewellery, even if only as a memento of a special occasion. Say it with a friendship bracelet, ring or pendant, and keep it symbolic of the occasion at hand – a pretty ‘knot’ bracelet will remind your bridesmaid of your big day long after it’s over.

A sentimental box

Make your own decorative paper box or buy a handcrafted wooden one with an inscribed message and question asking your friend to be your bridesmaid. Place something special inside that you know she’ll love, such as nail polish, a bag of sweets or a scented candle, and, to really pique her curiosity, divulge a small detail about the wedding day such as the bridal party colour scheme.

A treasured wine bottle

If your girlfriends like their wine (who doesn’t?!), this idea is just right for them. Print a label with a personalised message that you can stick onto the original wine label, or accompany a bottle of her favourite red or white with an elegant glass and a message printed on it. Your bridal party will have no choice but to meet up and toast to your marriage. Oh happy days.

Blow the Balloon

Whether they choose to blow it up in the run up to the wedding day or simply keep it as a memory of your proposal, this fun way of asking your best friends to be your bridesmaids is perfect for a bride who prefers funny over sentimental.

The gift bag

Party bags are not just for kids – everyone loves a bag full of goodies, and you can use the bag itself to pop the question. Be it a cute make-up bag or a handy tote, fill it with some girly items, such as a printed t-shirt or lush lipstick, or a lovely token that will surprise her beyond belief.

Gather the troop

Organise a get together with the women you’ll be choosing as your bridesmaids without telling them the reason for the occasion, and surprise them with drinks, a meal or a small gift placed at the seat they’ll be taking at table. This will be a perfect opportunity to discuss wedding details early on, and for your bridal party members to get to know each other better.

A posted card

It’s a simple gesture that simply cannot go wrong, and with so many pretty cards out there, you’re bound to find one that fits your style and sense of humour. Look out for ready printed postcards or ones you can hand write yourself, asking that special someone to be your bridesmaid. Fill the envelope with colourful confetti for a party feel, and wait for that excited phone call from your friend telling you she accepts!
