Isaac Zammit, 32, and Meredith Ebejer, 29, both lawyers, made their official promises to be each other’s forever on the 25th of May in 2024, at the Our Lady of Victory Church in Valletta. The road to their special day was filled with planning and teamwork, resulting in a gorgeous celebration of their love that culminated with one of Malta’s best views as the backdrop to their special evening – from the Grand Harbour Terrace at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta.

After spending three and a half years with Meredith, Isaac knew he’d found the one. He initially planned to propose in June 2022 while on holiday in Rome, but his plans had to be put on hold as the engagement ring was still undergoing some last-minute changes, so he convinced Meredith to go abroad again a few months later. This time they visited the beautiful Basque region of Spain, spending a day in San Sebastian – a stunning city in the mountainous region of Spain. Once they reached the top of the city, with a gorgeous panorama spreading beneath them, Isaac bent to one knee and popped the question of a lifetime! Caught off-guard and over the moon, it took Meredith a while to get her answer out, but after a moment of silent joy, she managed to let out the all-important ‘yes!’

Flexibility and great teamwork made Isaac and Meredith’s planning process fairly painless. They shared the responsibilities of the preparations, working to their individual strengths – Isaac, being a whiz at logistics and planning, took care of that aspect of the wedding, while Meredith was a constant source of ideas and inspiration, while contacting the suppliers that would help make their dream wedding a reality.

They were quite flexible with the wedding details such as venue and church – just making sure that the guests wouldn’t have to travel too far between the church and the venue. This allowed them to plan the wedding in just over a year, and helped to make the process quite a bit less stressful too!

When it came to themes, they didn’t have anything specific in mind, but they did know that they wanted to keep it simple, allowing the dramatic view of the harbour at their selected venue to take centre stage. The venue, being special as it is, required just a few additions to transform into the venue of their dreams, so they focused on making the best use of the space. On seeing the photos and videos post-wedding, it was safe to say that their expectations had been exceeded, convincing them that they made all the right choices when it came to decor and set up, with guidance provided by Golden Edge events.

Meredith had always imagined that she’d have a simple dress, in terms of both cut and material, and as luck would have it, ‘the one’ ended up being the very first dress she tried! She tried on some other dresses at the same shop, Wedding Bells in Valletta, but just kept going back to the very first one – the timeless quality it held was irresistible! The bridesmaids too, were dressed fairly simply, in lovely shades of pink and green, to match the rest of the wedding’s colour theme. Isaac, on the other hand, was looking sharp in a classic suit from Bortex Fine Tailoring.

The invites also followed the theme of simple elegance, sporting different shades of green - one shade on the back of the actual invite and another shade of green for the information card.

Although their wedding was largely traditional, they made sure to inject some touches here and there that reflected who they are and what they like. For instance, at the entrance, they didn’t opt for the typical couple’s photo to greet guests as they arrived. Instead, they set up small tables on which they placed photos from their parents’ and grandparents’ wedding days – an adorable and original idea! Also, instead of handing out traditional souvenirs, they decided to make a donation to Puttinu Cares and handed out bookmarks during the wedding.

As Meredith and Isaac are both foodies, the food served at their wedding was one of the most important aspects to them. Adding a personal touch, along with the guidance of the experts at Xara Catering, they decided to include a Lebanese food station, as a tribute to their love of Middle Eastern food. It turned out to be a crowd-pleaser, giving the bride and groom one more reason to be over the moon!

Their cake, also made by Xara Catering, was plain with textured icing that complemented the design of the cake table - modern but classic. Their florist, Anna Zammit, included the same orchids that Meredith had in her bouquet, tying in the cake to the rest of the decorations with a beautiful floral touch!

The couple made sure to have an organiser helping out with everything on the day, Noel from Jurgen the Organiser, and was incredibly grateful for the tireless support from their two best men who worked hard to ensure that everything would work out smoothly. And it did! With around 450 guests dancing to the tunes played by Sleek, fuelled by the drinks provided by Alfsons and cocktails by Damian’s, the couple said that “the whole day felt magical and passed by like a dream”.

Luckily, they had photographer Ian Abdilla capturing all those special moments on camera, particularly the instant Meredith was walking down the aisle and the couple’s eyes met – realising their future was standing in front of them. Meredith recalls, “Nothing feels as special as that moment.”
