Hilary Swank, star of Million Dollar Baby, Boys Don’t Cry, PS I Love You and many more unforgettable films, recently tied the knot with entrepreneur Philip Schneider in a secret ceremony close to the couple’s home in California.
In an interview with Vogue, Hilary dished out details of how she first met her husband-to-be – “It was a blind date set up by actor Misha Collins’s wife, Vicki, and another close friend, Jean. We met at 10am and parted ways at 11pm!”
The couple got engaged a year and a half later, while trekking in Colorado, where Philip got down on one knee in the presence of Hilary’s dogs to pop the question.
The couple went on to plan their wedding in the most stunning of settings close to their family home – at the Santa Lucia Preserve in Carmel, California, steeped in nature. The bride’s father, who can’t fly as a result of a lung transplant, was able to walk his daughter down the aisle. “It’s a stunning private community surrounded by 20,000 acres of conservancy and an intimate redwood grove populated with trees that are over 800 years old,” said Hilary.
The bride looked stunning in a custom-made Elie Saab Couture wedding dress, comprised of 25 metres of Chantilly lace, silk chiffon and organza silk, which took over 150 hours to make.
“I’ve loved Elie Saab for years and was thrilled to have him design my dress,” said Hilary. “I wanted something romantic that felt as timeless as the redwood grove where we were to be married, and he delivered – designing something that far surpassed my greatest expectations. It was everything I imagined and more.”
