Daring Wedding Dresses from Bridal Fashion Week ‘17

Traditional wedding dresses are getting a shake-up. From seriously high slits to ‘naked’ wedding dresses, here are some designs from Bridal Fashion Week Autumn 2017 that are expected to rule the racks this year.

Pronovias

After seeing plenty of ‘naked dresses’ on celebrities in recent years – those dresses that cover the essential bits while leaving plenty to the imagination – it was only a matter of time until the trend spilled into the bridal world too. The extent of coverage varies among designers and dress styles, but we think this Pronovias design is both sensual and sleek.

Ines Di Santo

This Tulle and Chantilly lace sheath dress by Italian-born designer Ines Di Santo is hardly the definition of ordinary, and the dramatic sleeves with blue flowers and bronze beaded tulle overlay take it to another level of extraordinary.

Sachin & Babi

Sachin & Babi’s Maya gown ticks all the boxes with the right kind of sexy – the illusion bodice, which is hand embroidered with silk taffeta flowers, crystals and glass beads, creates interest without looking kitsch, complemented with a fitted silk crepe skirt.

Alon Livne

Reminiscent of Belen Rodiguez’s high split dress and THAT butterfly tattoo, this Alon Livne Venus dress might cause the entire church to blush, but you’ll certainly make a statement. The floaty and revealing skirt is accentuated by a jewelled bodice fit for a queen and a woman with the right amount of sass to pull it off.

Naeem Khan

Remember how cut outs were all the rage? Designer Naeem Khan’s Santiago dress skilfully toys with the trend while keeping things classy. This long sleeved beaded gown sports a gorgeous swirly pattern with the right amount of shine and shimmer, and an elegant keyhole detail at the back.
