One of Malta’s leading fashion designers, Gaetano, has just gotten engaged – and in the most adorable way ever. While the designer was celebrating his 30th birthday with a dinner with family and friends, his partner Kurt got down on one knee and popped the big question.
“I’m still shocked and emotional!” Gaetano reveals, adding that while they had been discussing the topic of marriage for a while, yesterday’s surprise was not expected. “I would never have imagined him on his knees in front of everyone as he’s a really shy kinda person.” And Kurt’s reaction speaks truth to that – as soon as he got back on his feet, he put his hands on his chest and heaved a sigh in relief: “thank god!”
In a long Facebook post following the pair’s eventful evening, Gaetano wrote that he could not have asked for a better way to celebrate his birthday. “I don’t think I’m ever going to get a more beautiful birthday celebration than this one today!”
In the 12 hours since their epic engagement, Gaetano and Kurt have already started wedding planning. “After yesterday’s dinner, we decided on 23rd December 2022 for our wedding date as we’re both Christmas freaks and we’d love a Christmas wedding,” the designer discloses enthusiastically. The couple hope to organise every aspect of the wedding themselves. “I want everything to be the way we like it,” Gaetano explains, adding that he already feels like a Groomzilla.
The question is: will he be designing the wedding outfits himself? It sure looks like it! Gaetano confesses that his first thoughts went straight to the groomsmaids dresses, but he is positive that he “will eventually design [their] suits” instead. We can’t wait to see what he has in store!
