Everyone loves Amy Schumer for her incredible sense of humour and no-holds-barred jokes, including her very own motherhood experience. And when it comes to her son Gene, well, she doesn’t spare him either.
The comedian and her husband, Chris Fischer, announced that they decided to change their son’s name after realising it had a bad ring to it.
The couple, who welcomed their first child on 5th May last year, named him Gene Attell Fischer, choosing a second name in honour of her close friend Dave Attell. However, she realised that Gene followed by Attell sounds too much like ‘genital’.
On podcast 3 Girls, 1 Keith, aired this week, Amy said “Do you guys know that Gene, our baby’s name is officially changed? It’s now Gene David Fischer. It was Gene Attell Fischer, but we realised that we, by accident, named our son 'Genital'.”
The couple even discussed the change with whom their son is named after, opting for his first name, David, instead, which also happens to be Amy’s father’s name, renewing their son’s name as Gene David Fischer.
