Now that you’ve found THE perfect dress, it’s time to decide what goes underneath it. Whether it’s the appropriate bra for a strapless or backless gown, or a little something to synch everything in (just a little), it’s time to think shapewear. Here’s how to choose the shapewear to make you feel sexy and supported on your big day.
COLOUR MATCHING
Your chosen bra should match the colour of your dress, not your skin! If your dress slips a little while you’re showcasing your best moves on the dancefloor, it will be far less noticeable if your bra is the same colour.
GIVE IT A WHIRL
Don’t leave it to your wedding day to wear your bra or shaping garment for the first time – how will you know if it is uncomfortable, or unsupportive, without giving it a full test drive first? We suggest wearing it on a night out for the ultimate test!
FABRIC FANCIES
When choosing the undergarments for your wedding, you absolutely MUST keep the fabric of your wedding dress in mind. If you’ve chosen a textured or heavier fabric, chances are it’ll be forgiving, but a lightweight silk charmeuse will need you to be the ultimate ninja when it comes to panty lines.
LET YOUR DRESS GUIDE YOU
The style of your chosen dress will dictate the shapewear you need! If you’ve gone for a ball gown, you’re likely not to need much, but a mermaid or sheath will definitely benefit from a bustier or Spanx.
GO BUILT-IN
Some gowns come with their own, built-in padded cups or corsetry, which is great, but you may still need additional shapewear – best to test it out, but don’t fully depend on it!
