Andrea, 37, and Warren, 39, had been dating for 10 years before their big day, on 1st May 2008. “The proposal was very simple,” Andrea recalls. “He knocked on my bedroom door just before we were bound to go out while I was in a mad rush and running late. He gave me the box, but I was so embarrassed I sent him out of the room without an answer!”

The couple celebrated mass at the Tarxien Parish Church followed by a reception at Palazzo Parisio. “My mother and I took care of all the wedding preparations, but we had a wedding planner with us on the day to help with the coordination.”

One of the most striking aspects of Andrea’s wedding was undoubtedly her dress, which came all the way from India. “I had gone on a Liquorish trip a couple of years before with no intention of getting married, and fell in love with this beautiful, hand-made Indian wedding dress. Without hesitation and without telling anyone, I bought it and years later, when all was in order for the wedding, I thought back to that crazy, hot day in Mumbai. My wedding dress was very sentimental.”

Andrea adds that her dress was in fact a pretty unusual and unconventional choice at the time. “Half way through the party I took off my skirt in front of the whole crowd and the dress transformed into a mini tutu dress that I was able to party with.”

However, she admits that the most memorable part of the day involved her beloved dog and national personality, Bugz. “I was privileged to have my dog with me as we came out of the church. Today that Bugz has passed away, I treasure those moments and pictures tremendously.” She adds “Our wedding was perfect from the second I opened my eyes in the morning till the very end – it was a super long wedding which I never wanted to end.”

The couple flew to the US for their honeymoon, where they rented a Harley, drove down Route 66 from LA to Las Vegas, went to Disney Land and flew to Bora Bora in Tahiti, and even swam with sharks in what Andrea describes as “pure paradise”.

The couple have since welcomed Isaac, 6, and Eve, 2. “They are my treasures, great kids and extremely fun to be with.” Any plans for your anniversary this year? “Last year, we did an overland trip to Sicily, but this year we’re looking at something completely different. We will be taking part in the challenge Tough Mudder in London – we’re hoping for the best and that I come back in one piece! Rather weird way of celebrating an anniversary right?”
