Malta’s Identity Agency has revealed that Ġanni and Luċija were officially the most popular Maltese names for babies in Malta in 2023.
This was the case as well for Maltese baby names in 2022.
During the whole year of 2023 a total of 4,204 babies were born in Malta and Gozo, 2,162 of which were boys and 2,042 which were girls.
On the other hand, the most popular names that were not written with the Maltese alphabet but given to children born in Malta, include Matteo, Noah, Luca and Jack for boys, and Emma, Valentina, Julia and Nina for girls.
