Last weekend, on Saturday 6th July, the youngest member of the British Royal Family was christened as per royal tradition, and the photos are simply precious! Little Archie was baptised in the private chapel at Windsor Castle, surrounded by closest family and friends.
Prince Harry and Meghan’s official Instagram announced the news. “The Duke and Duchess are so happy to share the joy of this day with members of the public who have been incredibly supportive since the birth of their son.”
“Their Royal Highnesses feel fortunate to have enjoyed this day with family and the godparents of Archie.” Baby Sussex was baptised wearing the handmade replica of the royal christening gown which has been worn by royal infants for the last 11 years.
Prince Harry himself was also christened in the same castle back in 1984. In an old portrait, the royal, now 34, wears the historic christening gown as he rests in his late mother Princess Diana’s arms, looking off to the side, just like Archie. There’s no denying that Archie bears a striking resemblance to his father back when he was a baby.
The historic gown, commissioned by Queen Victoria, was worn by 62 royal babies. For the last 11 years, a replica was made (that was worn by Archie), after the original gown was deemed too fragile to continue using.
