Andrea Cassar

“Since Liquorish Started My Life has Changed Completely”

Andrea Cassar on work, life, and the family’s new dog, Harley.

As the producer and presenter of popular TV show Liquorish, CEO of a shipping company and mother of two young children, Andrea Cassar knows a thing or two about performing a daily juggling act.

In a recent interview with Gwida magazine, Andrea says she’s often asked how she manages to cope with such a demanding schedule, while also raising two children with husband Warren. “Since Liquorish started, my life has changed completely, especially since having children. Issac is seven years old and Eve just turned three, and work takes up a lot of my time, particularly since I have more than one occupation,” says Andrea.

“The most essential thing is to plan properly. Very often, and I‘m sure other mothers would agree, my day revolves around that of my children, but I wouldn’t be able to do it without the support of my family and husband,” she adds.

“Work is a big part of my life – I enjoy what I do and I wake up feeling energetic and positive for the day ahead. A lot of the work I do on Liquorish is slotted into my day of work, unless the programme or actual adventure is about to start, which is when I have to dedicate a bit more time to it.”

After the difficult loss of her dog Bugz, who stole viewers’ hearts as co-presenter of Liquorish, Andrea admits she wasn’t sure if she should welcome another dog into their lives. “A pet is a family member, and I wanted to be sure that everyone is ready and willing to lend a hand. I love animals, and so does my daughter Eve – so, as a family, we decided to get another dog, and named him Harley.”

What inspired the name? “We opted for Harley because it reminded us of a passion my husband and I shared when we first started dating – that of motorcycles,” says Andrea. “Every morning, Harley goes to the Liquorish office to spend the day with his extended family. The programme’s crew take such care of him, and from what I hear, he’s having a pretty good time. He then returns home in the evening and spends time with the children until it’s time to go to bed. Otherwise, he joins us everywhere on the weekends!”
