"This year, Valentine’s Day will mark our third anniversary"

Valentina and Carlo originally met through mutual friends and have known each other for more than three years. “I think we were drawn to each other because we lead quite similar lifestyles, so we’re very understanding of one another,” says Valentina.

Asked about their first Valentine’s Day as a couple, Valentina recalls a relaxing evening spent in Valletta. “We were still getting to know each other at the time,” she says, “so we really enjoyed the fact that it was just the two of us.”

Even though he does his best, Carlo has to admit that Valentina is the more romantic half of the couple. “On one occasion I planned a trip to Taormina and I wanted everything to be absolutely perfect. It was magical from the get-go but I do have a habit of forgetting things – and, true to form, I forgot where our hotel was!”

Valentina laughs at the memory. “We spent two hours wandering around asking for directions, but no one seemed to know if it even existed! We finally found it after a three-hour trek and it was absolutely perfect. It actually turned out to be the best holiday ever.”

As for this year, Carlo has something up his sleeve – but he’s not giving away any details. “This year, Valentine’s Day will mark our third anniversary and I know that Carlo has a surprise planned – so who knows what could happen?” Valentina adds. “As long as we’re in each other’s company, I won’t be complaining!”
