Trending: Cigar Bar at a Wedding Reception
Looking for a more sophisticated addition to your wedding reception that a sushi table or sweet feast? This should be it.
Cigar bars are gaining popularity at weddings – both as a special treat for guests who enjoy the fine luxuries of life, and among groomsmen who are toasting their groom with a light instead of a drink. Check out these important tips for creating the perfect cigar bar at your wedding.
Make sure it’s allowed at the venue
This shouldn’t be an issue if the bar is set-up outside as most local venues permit smoking in an outdoor area. However, it’s still always best to check before you forge on. Also, take note of the venue’s policies regarding disposing of cigar butts once they’ve finished, so that you can provide for that with ashtrays and discreet bins set up around the premises.
Stock a variety
You might need to rope in the help of a friend or member of the wedding party for some knowledge on which cigars to select over others. Consider having two to three different blends ranging from mild to rich, as well as flavours in order to accommodate as many guests as possible, whether lady or gentleman. Also, don’t overdo it in terms of length and width – you want to keep the smoking time short so that your guests can re-join the party.
Provide all necessary accessories
Stock the bar with cigar cutters, lighters as well as ashtrays so that your guests have everything they need to prep their cigar and dispose of it correctly. You may even need to store the cigars in humidors to prevent them from getting affected by the elements since you’ll probably be setting up outside. Consider placing a few chairs and tables in the vicinity so that guests can take a seat and enjoy the moment.
The ideal location
Find a secluded spot which is visible enough for people to know about the cigar bar but far enough from the rest of the party so that people won’t get put off by the smell of the smoke and you’ll be safely away from child-friendly areas.
Perfect pairing
Some things are best enjoyed in pairs, and this is probably one of them. Offer a small range of fine whiskies, spirits and even wine or cocktails which guests can enjoy while puffing on a cigar, or alternatively, a signature drink which you’ve concocted with your barman that would pair well with the cigars you’re offering. If you’ve got the budget for it, you could even hire an expert to assist guests with their choice of cigar and beverage.
