What do you get the couple that has everything? For Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the answer is simple – a donation to those who have nothing.
The nearly-weds are asking that anyone who may be thinking of sending them a gift give a gift to charity instead.
The pair has picked out seven charities that “represent a range of issues that they are passionate about,” the Palace added.
So what charities topped their list?
CHIVA
CHIVA, the Children's HIV Association, supports children growing up with HIV and their families across the UK and Ireland.
CRISIS
Crisis, the national charity for homeless people, which helps people find a way out of homelessness and rebuild their lives.
THE MYNA MAHILA FOUNDATION
The Myna Mahila Foundation breaks taboos about menstrual hygiene in Mumbai, India, and empowers the most underprivileged women there. Meghan has worked with this foundation, meeting with girls whose educations were affected by the stigmatisation of something as natural as a period.
SCOTTY’S LITTLE SOLDIERS
Scotty's Little Soldiers offers support to children who have lost a parent serving in the British Armed Forces.
STREET GAMES
Street Games uses sport to empower young people to kick off a cycle of positive change in their own lives. The couple met members and volunteers of the charity during their visit to Wales this year.
SURFERS AGAINST SEWAGE
Surfers Against Sewage is a marine conservation charity that encourages communities to protect oceans, beaches, wildlife and more.
THE WILDERNESS FOUNDATION UK
The organisation promotes the conservation of the great outdoors. Prince Harry previously worked with the foundation in September 2017.
Harry and Meghan's decision to give charity work such an important role in their nuptials certainly bodes well for future philanthropy ventures in their new lives together! We think Princess Diana would be proud.
