After days of speculation, the youngest royal baby of Prince William and Kate Middleton has been named, and the choice is certainly befitting for a prince.
Kensington Palace announced on Twitter that the couple named him Louis Arthur Charles, and his royal title will be His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge.
Louis was a somewhat surprising choice, with Arthur and Albert being the main favourites among bookies, although it is a name with significance within the royal family. It draws from his father’s (Prince William Arthur Philip Louis) and grandfather’s (Prince Charles Philip Arthur George) full names.
Prince Louis was born on Monday at 11.01am in London’s St Mary’s Hospital, and was introduced to the world roughly seven hours after being delivered. He is fifth in line to the throne after Prince Charles, Prince William, and his siblings Prince George (full name George Alexander Louis) and Princess Charlotte (full name Charlotte Elizabeth Diana).
Welcome to the world Prince Louis!
